Ryan Nagy from Nagy Design, LLC creates a variety of products out of wood – which include topographically accurate wood carvings of the Upper Peninsula – and acrylic, including lighted geometric patterns on sheets of clear acrylic.
Nagy creates the designs using his Computer Aided Design technical skills. Once developed, he then transfers the design program to his Computer Numerical Control machine which engraves the design on the medium of choice. Nagy’s CAD services include: digital/graphics/web design, 20/30 CAD design, CNC machining, technical drafting, and consulting.
“En‘light’ened” designs, one of his products, are geometric patterns on acrylic, backlit with colored LED lights. Nagy draws his inspiration for these items from nature, meditation, and extensive research on metaphysical patterns in the universe.
To enhance his business, he has also acquired his FAA part 107 UAS commercial license and is able to do aerial photography. With his drone, he is capable of taking hundreds of pictures at a time including panoramic images as well as video.
Construction is also a part of his business. He plans on working with his father, Jeff Nagy, to design and build a variety of projects.
Nagy says his reason for investing in Manistique was that, “Manistique is home. Our youth need to return and contribute their time and talent to make our community a better place.”
