Manistique, MI – The Schoolcraft County Economic Development Corporation (EDC)
held its regular meeting on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, where members voted in
new officers for the upcoming term. The EDC remains dedicated to fostering economic
growth, supporting local businesses, and enhancing community development throughout Schoolcraft County.
The newly elected officers for the Schoolcraft County EDC are:
Greg Schuetter – Chairperson
Boris Martysz – Vice Chairperson
Irma González-Hider – Secretary
Bonnie Garvin – Treasurer
In addition to the officers, the EDC Board of Directors includes:
Cathy Rohde – Director
Dan Hoholik – Director
Jim Weber – Director
Paul Walker – Director
The EDC is also taking the initiative to reestablish Schoolcraft County’s Brownfield
Redevelopment Authority, an important step toward revitalizing underutilized or
contaminated properties for future development. This initiative aims to attract new
investment, improve property values, and stimulate economic growth in the region.
Additionally, there is currently one open board seat on the EDC. Interested candidates
are encouraged to submit a letter of interest to the Schoolcraft County Commissioners
and email a copy to Victoria George at vgeorge@discovermanistique.com.
The EDC is pleased to welcome two new board members who were recently appointed
and bring valuable experience to the organization:
Boris Martysz, Sr. Commercial Lender at Nicolet National Bank, expressed his interest in joining the EDC Board, highlighting his commitment to serving
Schoolcraft County and leveraging his financial expertise to support local
economic development. His experience in commercial lending will help facilitate
business growth and access to capital in the region.
Greg Schuetter, Vice President of Commercial Lending at Peoples State Bank in
Munising, MI, has also submitted his formal letter of intent. As a lifelong resident
of Schoolcraft County with 17 years of experience in commercial lending,
Schuetter is eager to contribute to the economic growth of the area. His financial
background and dedication to local businesses make him a valuable addition to
the EDC Board. Schuetter has previously served on both the Schoolcraft County
EDC and Brownfield Redevelopment Authority, bringing a wealth of experience to
his new leadership role.

will create new opportunities for Schoolcraft County," said Greg Schuetter, Chairperson.

steps toward economic revitalization."

The Schoolcraft County EDC welcomes collaboration with local businesses,
